Privacy policy

Revised 29 August 2026 · Applies to Miguel Downloader 1.0.0 and later

Miguel Downloader collects no data about you and sends nothing to its author. There is no telemetry, no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no tracker and no installation identifier. Nothing you download, paste or search leaves your computer for the author of this program.

Who is responsible

Gabriel Silva Dias Moreira, the author and rights holder of Miguel Downloader. Contact: contato@ogabriels.com.

Data the program collects

None. The program has no server, keeps no database about its users, and contains no mechanism capable of sending information to the author.

What is stored, and where

Everything the program keeps stays on your computer, in these folders, and never leaves them on the program's initiative:

%APPDATA%\MiguelDownloader
Your settings: destination folder, theme, language, quality presets.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MiguelDownloader
Download history and the queue that has not finished yet, in a local SQLite database.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MiguelDownloader\logs
Run logs, kept for seven days and used to diagnose failures. Addresses you analysed appear in them. Cookies, passwords and tokens are never written.

You can delete these folders at any time. Uninstalling does not remove them, so that reinstalling does not cost you your history.

When the program reaches the internet

In up to four situations, each started by something you did or configured:

  1. To talk to the site whose address you pasted. That is the reason the program exists. The connection is between your computer and that site, with nothing in between.
  2. To read public music catalogues when you paste a link from a music platform: Deezer, iTunes, MusicBrainz, Bandcamp and the Internet Archive. The program asks them for track names and work identifiers. It sends nothing about you.
  3. For installations from the website, to check GitHub for new versions of the tools it uses (yt-dlp and FFmpeg).
  4. For installations from the website, to check for and download updates to the program itself from GitHub Releases.

The Microsoft Store edition already includes the required tools and delegates every update to the Store. It therefore makes neither of the GitHub requests described in items 3 and 4.

On any internet access, the service being contacted can see your IP address, as happens with any browsing. Those services are third parties and follow their own privacy policies, not this one.

Browser cookies

Some sites only serve content to a signed-in session. If you configure the program to use cookies from your browser, they are read at connection time and sent only to the matching site. They are not copied elsewhere, not written to the logs, and never reach the author or any third party. The option is off by default, under Settings › Advanced.

Children

The program is not directed at children, and it collects data from nobody, at any age.

Your rights

Data protection law, including the GDPR and Brazil's LGPD, gives you access to, correction of and erasure of personal data held by a controller. Since this program neither collects nor processes your personal data, there is nothing to request: the files listed above are already yours, on your computer, under your control. If you would still like to ask something, write to contato@ogabriels.com.

Changes to this policy

If the program starts doing something other than what is described here, this page changes first, and the revision date at the top is updated. The change history is public in the project repository.
