The authoritative text is the Portuguese one, which ships with the installation as LICENCA.txt and is governed by Brazilian law. This English version is provided so the terms can be read; where the two differ, the Portuguese governs.

This document states what you may do with Miguel Downloader and what the author warrants. Installing or using the program means accepting these terms.

Install and use it on as many computers as are yours, personally or at work, free of charge and without a time limit.
Keep backup copies of the installer.
Pass the original installer to another person, provided you charge nothing for it, do not alter it, and keep this document with it.

3. What you may not do

Without written permission from the rights holder:

sell the program, charge for access to it, or include it in a paid product or service;
alter the program, its files, its name or its visual identity, or distribute an altered version;
remove, hide or replace the authorship notices, the author's name, the identifying icons or this document;
present the program, in whole or in part, as your own work;
decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law expressly permits.

These restrictions reach only the code written by the rights holder. Third-party components follow their own licences, several of which permit things this section forbids.

4. Responsibility for what you download

Miguel Downloader transfers files. It does not host, distribute or supply content: the site whose address you paste into the program is what supplies it.

Each file is your choice and your responsibility. Before downloading, check that you have the right or the permission: because the content is yours, because it is in the public domain, because the work's licence allows it, because the rights holder authorised it, or because the law permits it in that case. The source site's terms of use apply as well, and sometimes forbid downloading even where the law does not.

The program does not circumvent DRM, does not break technical access protection, and does not seek subscriber-only content. Where a platform encrypts the file, the download does not happen, and no setting changes that.

5. No warranty

The program is provided free of charge and as it stands. The author does not warrant that it will run without fault, that it fits a particular purpose of yours, that it is compatible with every site, or that it will keep working with a site after that site changes.

6. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, the author is not liable for loss of data, lost profits, business interruption or any damage arising from use of or inability to use the program. This limit does not exclude liability for wilful misconduct or anything Brazilian law treats as non-waivable.

7. Third-party components

Each bundled component follows its own licence, which prevails over this document as regards that component. FFmpeg is under GPL version 3 and entitles you to the corresponding source; TagLib# is under LGPL 2.1 and entitles you to replace it with your own build. The full list is in third-party components.

8. Data

The program collects no data about you and sends nothing to the author. What it keeps stays on your computer. Details are in the privacy policy.

9. Term

The licence lasts as long as you comply with these terms. Breaking any of them ends it, and use must stop. The obligation to respect authorship survives.

10. Governing law

Brazilian law applies. The courts of the user's domicile are the agreed forum for questions arising from this document.
